Wired Internet Group was started in Christchurch by Mike Baddeley back in 1996. Mike had a history running traditional businesses, and saw the web as an entirely new marketing tool with great potential for growth.
Initially we offered a marketing audit to clients. This enabled them to understand their own potential for growth via the web, and gave us a great insight into the needs of a range of businesses. From this it became apparent that currency of content was critical to the effectiveness of business websites. So Wired developed SmartAlec, one of the early 'self-drive' web content management systems.
Not content with just sticking close to home, Mike looked to Australia for expansion. Our depth of experience, competitive pricing and great tools enabled us to develop a relationship with Pacbrands, Australia's leading consumer brands company. As Pacbrands e-business manager put it, "Wired's offerings outperformed the others on both features and cost".
Building on our established expertise, we have realised that business success in the web's 'second generation' is actually driven by the users' experience. It's no longer enough to have a 'cool site' - sites have to meet your customers' needs as much as your own. So in addition to our proven web tools, we also offer a range of services aimed at helping our clients to understand website users' needs.
Wired's decade of online experience could be improving the online experience of all your customers. Wired makes internet tools to help you manage your website content and to learn more about your online customers. We also provide a range of services to support these aims.
The key tools we’ve developed to help you do this include:
 |
SmartAlec
An easy-to-use Content Management System. Over 130 customers use SmartAlec to manage their web content.
|
 |
Insite Survey
An online survey tool that allows surveys to be easily created and analyzed. This gives your customers an opportunity to interact with your business – while it gives you up-to-date and affordable market knowledge.
|
 |
User Experience Assessment
A website ‘works’ only if its users judge that it does, and those users seldom give poor sites a second chance. This is the core of the ‘usability perspective’: design that makes your customers’ needs the number one priority.
|
We also offer services such as full web-hosting, with in-house web developers and designers. We can design e-commerce solutions to order, and we have service partners with user experience skills to help you direct your web presence to provide what your customers actually need.
At Wired we believe that aligning your site design with what your customers really need is the surest way to making the site work for your business.
With Wired you’ll often spend less money up front. Too often websites are over-engineered from day one in the hope that people will simply come. Our approach and the modular nature of our systems will allow you to build additional functionality as your users and your business require.
